NGC 2997 **SOLD**

NGC2997 is a grand design spiral galaxy about 55 million light years distant. It is particularly notable for a nucleus surrounded by a chain of hot giant clouds of ionized hydrogen. This quilt was inspired by an astrophotograph created by David Malin. Scientific data taken from NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day This quilt won an AWARD OF DISTINCTION at the BEST ART IN THE TRIANGLE SHOW 2004 at Lee Hansley’s Gallery in Raleigh, NC.

This piece was sold at auction to benefit the Triangle Land Conservancy.
